This route of around 5 miles in Chew Magna is a great countryside walk through lots of different fields, footpaths and by-ways with minimal road walking. You can park on Chew Lane, just in front of the footpath entrance. There are loads of footpaths round here, and when we first walked round here it took us about 3 hours as we kept finding cows which we try to avoid! In the route shown, we did walk through one field with them in, however they saw us and were totally un-phased. There may be cows in a few other fields on this route though. On our way back, we looped back round the road as one of the fields that had seemed empty on our way out had loads of cows in on the way back! This is the field directly across the road on your first road cross on the route shown. There are so many footpath options that they are avoidable if you’re like us and would rather not go through their fields! There are also a few spots that you will be walking near or along the River Chew with some good spots for doggy paddle.
