Sophie adopted Patch in 2015 from Dog Trouble. He was 6 at the time, and Sophie had worked with him for a few months before deciding she needed him in her life all the time, and took him home with her without a look back. Unfortunately as a younger dog, life wasn’t the best for Patchy. He was with a family that didn’t care for him very well - he was a frightened mess when Dog Trouble took him in. His previous owners had taken him to the vets to be put down, supposedly because he has bitten a child, luckily that vet was Dog Trouble’s vet and they called to see if they could take him in rather than him being put down - he was only 3 at the time and the vets were reluctant to euthanise him. Dog Trouble collected him without question, and for a while he would sit and cower in corners, and go nowhere near any men. By the time Sophie adopted him 3 years later, he had come on a long way. He was still nervous of most men, in fact, he really didn’t like Sophie’s dad for the first month or so, and would growl if he was anywhere nearby. Flash forward to 5 years later and he is a really happy, loved dog, who will jump on most strangers knees, whether they are men or not, and cuddle with the children for hours, and let them faff around with him covering him in blankets. He is so gentle with them. He is still very much a Jack Russell and will still bark bloody murder at the door, and occasionally have a grumble at the odd dog he doesn’t like when out for a walk, but for the most part he is a well socialised boy who loves to chase animals in the woods and give his loved ones constant adoration. If he trusts you, he will love you for life. Nothing quite like the love of a Patch!
