Katie and her husband adopted him 5 years ago, when he was 18 month old. He had been at the rescue centre for 8 long months and was ready to find his forever home. Busby is a large Rottweiler male weighing in at 60kg, and at the time he was still very much a puppy, with no rules or boundaries. They had to start Busby’s training from scratch, starting with what bed time meant as he just wanted to play 24/7! They reckoned they had it in the bag as they have previously owned 2 rescue Rottweilers for 15 years with no problems, but Busby was different and was, and still is, a very wilful dog! With lots of help and time using positive reinforcement to train him over the course of the last 5 years, they can confidently say Busby has improved greatly and become a loving member of the family and very endearing, but still with his mischievous side! Busby’s training is ongoing as he remains people and dog reactive with those he doesn’t know, something they hope that he will be able to overcome in the future. Katie’s friends and family didn’t think Busby could ever grow into the dog he is today, but with time, commitment and hard work, Katie and her husband have worked with him to give him the great life that he deserves. Thank dog they found him!
