Just off the B3134 (The Combe), you will find the car park for Burrington Combe. The postcode is BS40 7TZ. There are loads of walks around here. Burrington Combe is part of Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and you can walk from here to Black Down and Beacon Batch, which is the highest point of the Mendips. This route just sticks to Burrington Combe though (to get to Black Down you need to cross the B road, so please take care if doing so as it is a national speed limit road). Our route is 4 miles and should take between 1.5-2 hours to walk. Burrington Combe has free roaming cattle but they seem really chilled and used to walkers. It can be a very popular area to walk at peak times. There is one footpath gate that has been nailed together (even though the footpath sign is on the actual gate) - you should be able to climb over this easily enough, but dogs will need lifting over. All in all this is a lovely walk with a good mixture of woodland, and exiting back onto the Combe to finish the walk with some beautiful views of Somerset.
