Walking Route; Hackpen White Horse & Barbury Castle, Swindon, Wiltshire

There are a tonne of footpaths around this area. Our route starts from Hackpen Hill car park, which is free, but may be pretty busy at peak times. You can check out the famous White Horse by crossing the road and heading into the field on the right, where the Horse is drawn. There may also be some real horses in there too so please bear this in mind if you do go in for a look. This walking route is on the same side as the car park though. It’s a very easy route to follow , heading down the main by way, then looping round Barbury Castle to come back on yourself. It is worth mentioning though, that you won’t actually see a castle as there doesn’t seem to be anything left! It’s still a picturesque walk though, with no livestock unless you do choose to go and view the White Horse close up. Our route is just over 5 miles and shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours.
