As part of our partnership with WECare Worldwide, I'll be sharing some of their fabulous stories about the dogs they have saved, and this month, it's Lily!
Lily was brought into the WECare centre after they received a worried phone call about her. She was in shock, and having some seizures on admission to the hospital. She was suffering from severe skin disease, and after the WECare team tested her blood, they found she was also suffering with tick fever. Her abdomen was swollen, and she had diarrhoea. They began intensive treatment - she was put in isolation and placed on fluids, antibiotics and pain relief and was given emergency treatments where necessary when she had seizures. She was also given tick and worm treatment. They stayed with Lily overnight for intensive nursing.
Her progress was outstanding and her skin started to clear up. She was placed on oral antibiotics for her tick fever for two weeks, after which her bloods were back to normal. Her skin has recovered so well with a six week course of weekly spot on treatments and they were able to spay and vaccinate her.
Thanks to their great work, Lily is now a perfectly healthy dog with a beautiful new fur coat who loves to play around and get into all sorts of trouble with the other pups!! The WECare team will rehome lovely Lily and she will have another shot at a great life!
